Charis Cotter

Charis Cotter is an award-winning writer and storyteller. She has worked extensively in schools telling Newfoundland ghost stories and encouraging students to collect local ghost stories from their communities. 

She has written four fabulously spooky middle grade novels, which have received or been shortlisted for many awards, and translated into other languages. Her collection of Newfoundland ghost stories Screech! is sure to keep readers up at night!

Running the Goat published her storybook The Ferryland Visitor: A mysterious tale, with artwork by Gerry Squires, in 2016, and Footsteps in Bay de Verde, illustrated by Jenny Dwyer in 2020. Footsteps in Bay de Verde received 2022 Bruneau Family Children's/Young Adult Literature Award (an NL Book Award).
