Check out the Neighbourhood

Spend some time exploring our neighbourhood. There's lots to do and see on our little section of the Irish Loop.  Here are just a few suggestions.

  • East Coast Trail

We're lucky to be located just minutes from one of the East Coast Trail system's most popular trails. Hike the trail, visit an abandoned local community, walk a suspension bridge, find hidden beaches, enjoy seals playing in the surf. Every hike is a joy and an adventure. Check out all the trails.

  • Whale and Puffin Tours

There are several options for whale and puffin tours in the area—all are great. Gatherall's and O'Briens operate out of Bay Bulls; Elaine's B&B offers Zodiac tours from Witless Bay. Closest to our shop is the Molly Bawn, based in Mobile. We especially like this one because it sails past Tors Cove; seeing the community from the water is very special. And of course, there are whales, puffins, turrs, eagles and more. Whoever you sail with, you're sure to have a fabulous trip.

  • Foraging Walks

Local guide Tina White takes small groups out for foraging walks in the neighbourhood, followed by a lovely boil-up on the beach. A fun and tasty opportunity to learn about the bounty that surrounds us.

  • Cliff's Edge Retreat Cafe and Taproom

You don't have to stay at the Cliff's Edge to enjoy its lovely new cafe and taproom... but with such lovely setting, you'll be tempted!

Open 9 to 9 most days, the cafe serves baked goods, coffee, local beers and light lunches. Be sure not to miss their delicious pizzas on the weekend.

The cafe is just a short drive from the shop.

  • Fork Restaurant

Always a treat, Fork offers tasty and creative meals. Award-winning chef Kyle Puddister and Red Seal chef Kayla O'Brien work with local foragers and fresh seasonal ingredients. The menu changes regularly, but deliciousness is never out of season here. And there are resident chickens!

Fine dining, casually, in a gorgeous setting. Fork is located in Mobile, just a few kilometres from Tors Cove.

  • The Captain's Table

Looking for a good feed of fish and chips? Located on Highway 10 in Mobile, the Captain's Table is a long-standing local favourite. It even has gluten-free options.

    Eat in, take out... enjoy!

  • Arbour

This little gastropub has been a delightful addition to Bay Bulls and the neighbourhood. It has a good selection of cocktails, mocktails and beers, as well as fun, creative appetizers and "small" plates. Local music many evenings, and trivia nights as well.

  • Irish Loop Coffee House

Perfect for breakfast or a light lunch, this charming little spot has a great view of Witless Bay and an even better selection of home-made baked goods. Salads, quiche and fish cakes are almost always on the menu.

  • Lighthouse Picnics

One of the most popular meals on the Southern Shore. Delicious sandwiches, salads, and baked goods served from the old Ferryland lighthouse. Enjoy your picnic lunch on a headland while watching whales spout.

Book ahead. There's a limited number of bookings each day, and they go fast.
