Don McKay is the author of many books of poetry and essays, most recently All New Animal Acts, Angular Unconformity, and Paradoxides. His work has received numerous awards, including the Governor-General’s Literary Award, the Griffin Poetry Prize, and the BMO Winterset Award. McKay is also known as a poetry editor, and taught poetry in universities across the country. He was made a member of the Order of Canada for his contributions to Canada’s literary community. He lives and writes in St. John’s, NL.
McKay’s 2010 Pratt Lecture, The Speaker’s Chair: Field Notes on Betweenity, was published by Running the Goat in 2013.
McKay brings his fascination with, and knowledge of, geology and deep time to young readers in his first children’s book, The Rock Box, published by Running the Goat in 2023.
